The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing serves as the aerial combat and support arm of the 2nd Expeditionary Strike Group. Operating as the primary aviation component of the Marine Corps within the third fleet, the 2nd MAW provides precision strike capability, close air support, aerial reconnaissance, and rapid troop and supply transport across planetary and orbital battlespaces.
The 2nd MAW employs a diverse mix of aerospace craft including light and medium strike fighters, bombers, and dropships. Its units operate seamlessly with both Naval Carrier Groups and ground-based Marine forces, providing integrated combat aviation across all phases of battle — from initial insertion to sustained occupation.
